MY STORY AND MOTIVATION

Every person, every company has their own story behind, which motivated key decisions and fueled innovation. For me as a therapist it is especially important to share my story with you to build trust and understanding, and to improve quality of my service. I will tell you more about who I am in personal life and which past milestones brought me where I am right now and motivated me to open my practice.

I am a psychologist with 9 years of counselling experience. I am motivated to help my clients process their traumatic experiences, learn to cope with their trauma, and find balance and happiness. It is extremely important to both immediate well-being and long-term improvements of life quality and fulfillment. I work in holistic approach to mental health, meaning that in therapy we take every facet of client's personality and environment into account. I use only evidence-based therapeutic methods to guide my clients in their journey towards better mental health.

I am originally from Russia (from Soviet Union in fact! Was born shortly before its decline). I have lived there until I turned 23, and then moved to the Netherlands together with my boyfriend (now husband) who has scored his dream job in Amsterdam. Since then, we have lived in Amsterdam and have in the end settled in Rotterdam. We share the house with our daughter and a cat.

I always dreamed of helping people, but I was not too lucky with the chemistry teacher at school, so I have not become a doctor. I decided to study psychology to heal the souls, not the bodies, and received my Master's in 2010.  While studying, I have been working in the boarding school for children with complex family backgrounds. I was able to help their academic and societal success greatly by counselling and teaching them, and it has shown me the transformative power of education. That’s how, straight after my Master's, I decided to make a switch and become a teacher.

After moving to the Netherlands, I kept counselling people independently, and fueled my passion for education by working at the international school in Rotterdam as a teacher of Russian and Arts. I was teaching for 10 years, and eventually I felt that regardless how impactful this job is, it is also very emotionally draining. At about the same time my daughter was born, and after a small break to be there for her in her first year, I have decided to focus on my counselling career and completed my education as a counsellor in the Academy for Coaching and Counselling to supplement to my fundamental degree in Psychology.

Currently, I work as a psychosocial therapist in my private practice in Rotterdam. However, I do not limit myself geographically, as many of my clients prefer to interact online, so I have clients all over the world. At the moment, I could not be happier: I do my dream job, have my own business, and help people directly!
